- Photo-mechanical effect causes defragmentation of particles, it can be enhanced by either increasing the fluence (F) or decreasing the pulse duration (PD), STF=F/(PD)2.
- Decreasing pulse duration significantly increases the photomechanical effect and hence enhances the efficacy and improvement rate with less pain & more safety. Picoplus is currently at the forefront of Pulse duration race by its 450 PS for its wavelengths.
- 532 & 1064nm wavelengths are well known for their efficacy on dark & red shades of pigments, additional 595 & 660 nm are more selective on oxyhemoglobin for vascular treatments.

Laser-induced optical breakdown (LIOB) formation
LIOBS are ablated empty vacuoles/bubbles formed below the skin surface while keeping the stratum corneum intact :
- The process starts with the stripping of a few free electrons from the biological tissue (seeding).
- Once there are sufficient seeded free electrons, avalanche ionization occurs, greatly accelerating the production of free electrons.
- The free electrons form a plasma cloud that absorbs the remaining laser energy and expands explosively. In the process, a shock wave is launched.
- The physical shock forms a vacuole by the plasma ablation. An inflammatory process is started which includes fibroblast activation with new elastin, collagen & mucin formation*.
LIOBs can be focused in the epidermis using the 532nm wavelength, or in the upper papillary dermis using the 1064nm wavelength. In this way, treatments can be specifically tailored to treat dyspigmentation, add volume for wrinkles and acne scars.

No Compromises
Clarity allows combining biggest spot size, best pulse duration & highest repetition rate at any fluence. In other lasers, an increase in a particular parameter forces a decrease in other ones.

Efficacy enabled by safety
High skin protection enabled by the ICD allows the usage of '3 msec' ...the lowest hair removal pulse duration. This fast burning of the follicle doesn't allow it to cool down & therefore it enables effective hair removal even for thin hairs.
Hair reduction, not thinning
The fast burning of hair under '3 msec' fully damages the hair follicle stem cells. Longer pulse durations in other lasers partially damages hair follicle stem cells resulting in regrowth of fine hairs that are resistant to lasers.
Extra treatment speed
The ICD spray instantly evaporates & cools the skin. This allows the use of high repetition rate resulting in faster treatments hence more sessions per day. Other cooling types obligate using a lower repetition rate due to its gradual slow cooling rate.
The cold laser
ICD enables a comfortable & highly safe treatment that became to be known by patients by the name " The Cold laser", Clarity also avails optional air cooling for those who want it.
Consistent automatic cooling
The ICD spray amount is set before starting the treatment & is equally sprayed with each pulse. Other cooling types are user dependent: slow movement may over cool the follicle & compromise results, whereas fast movement will lead to insufficient cooling of skin & burn risks.
No leftover hairs
Clarity ensures equal energy coverage across the treated area and hence an equal effect on all hairs due to its uniform energy distribution of the Flat Top Beam Profile.
